AMSOIL Delays Canadian Price Increase Until July 1st

AMSOIL has refrained from adjusting Canadian prices for as long as possible, but action is being taken to offset the significant losses derived from increased raw-material costs and continued fluctuation in the exchange rate this year. The exchange rate between the Canadian and US dollars has been more volatile recently than at any time since 1929. All projections and expert advice predict some stability in the coming months. Barring any major fluctuations in the coming weeks AMSOIL expects the adjustment to be in the 9-10 percent range — with an average increase of 9.7 percent.

June 1st Canadian Price Increase

The Canadian dollar has demonstrated some stability at its current exchange rate with the U.S. dollar. While AMSOIL has refrained from adjusting Canadian prices for as long as possible, the significant change in the exchange rate combined with increased raw-material costs have forced AMSOIL to implement a price increase in Canada effective June 1.

The increase is expected to be in the 8-12 percent range. Every effort will be made to keep the price adjustment as low as possible.

New Products

Just two months into 2015 and three new products have been launched. In the first week of January the Signature Series 5W-50 (AMR) along with a new 4 stroke Dirt Bike Oil available in 3 different viscosities was announced.

In the latest product news, AMSOIL has now added a Signature Series 0W-40 (AZF) viscosity aimed at high-performing, high-horsepower engines. Ideal for Dodge, Chrysler & Nissan applications that call for a 0W-40, this new addition offers a premium lubricant to combat the stress and high heat associated with these modern muscle machines.

Stay tuned in the very near future for more product updates and announcements. AMSOIL has always delivered big ideas that spurred the synthetic lubricant industry to follow suit, and they have no intention of relinquishing the position of “The First in Synthetics”.

Signature Series 5W-50 (AMR)

This year at the 2014 SEMA Show the Mustang took centre stage as it celebrated its 50th birthday. In conjunction with this AMSOIL has added a new viscosity to its Signature Series line specifically formulated for high-horsepower Ford Mustang engines requiring the Ford WSS-M2C931-C performance specification.

AMSOIL Signature Series 5W-50 Synthetic Motor Oil is fortified with a robust additive package, including top-quality detergents and dispersants to help prevent sludge deposits and keep engines clean. It withstands the stress of high horsepower and heat, resisting viscosity loss due to mechanical shear and maintaining protection in metal-to-metal contact regions for maximum engine life.

Like its Signature Series siblings, AMSOIL Signature Series 5W-50 excels in extreme temperatures. It resists thermal breakdown to maintain protection in high heat and it contains no wax, allowing it to remain fluid in the low temperatures for improved oil flow and protection at startup. Signature Series 5W-50 is designed for maximum efficiency. It exhibits an extremely low volatility rate to control oil consumption and emissions.

Canadian Tire No Longer Carrying AMSOIL Products

Update:  CTC and AMSOIL have come to an agreement and you may see AMSOIL products back on the shelf at your local Canadian Tire.

In a recent announcement AMSOIL was unable to negotiate the required March price increase with Canadian Tire Corporation. CTC has decided to no longer carry the AMSOIL product lines.

Products on the shelves at CTC will still be available but will no longer be restocked. I would expect you’ll have a hard time finding motorcycle oils on the shelf after the first sale this fall.

If you are looking for a new source of AMSOIL products for your equipment. Please contact me to get quotes for wholesale or small local purchases directly.

Another great option is to have a look at the AMSOIL online locator to find a local dealer or shop that can supply you with AMSOIL products.

AMSOIL Introduces Synthetic CVT Fluid

AMSOIL has just released a Synthetic CVT Fluid for continuously variable transmissions. This product will be a replacement fluid for most all major automakers using CVT’s. CVT transmissions have been prevalent in Nissan vehicles for several years now and other brands such as Honda, Toyota, Dodge, Subaru and Suzuki have been integrating this technology. AMSOIL has used their synthetic oil expertise to create a CVT Fluid that is an upgrade over OEM fluids at a very reasonable price. The new fluid will be available in US quart bottles or 9.45 litre jugs.

The basic concept of the CVT has been prevalent in snowmobile and some industrial applications for generations. Automakers have moved to this technology for the smooth operation and fuel economy benefits. This video produced by Suzuki Motors gives a brief overview of the concept.

A CVT fluid’s main task is to prevent wear in drive belts (or chains), pulleys, clutches and bearings. Another chore is to provide cooling for transmission components. It is vital that the CVT fluid is able to conduct these tasks without interfering with the torque transfer duties of the transmission.
